Rowan was founded by co-founders Michelle Arnau and Sally Clarke, who met while working at cleaning products company method. Michelle was the head of North America and Sally was the Global VP of Creative. The two bonded quickly, even becoming dog parents around the same time. Over many conversations around their pets Michelle and Sally started to see a white space in the pet grooming industry. There was plenty of innovation happening in pet food, but grooming product options were limited and often packed with cheap and ineffective ingredients. The friends decided to take on the uninspiring and largely unregulated pet grooming space.

Michelle and Sally set out to create the first Clean Beauty brand for dogs, using human-grade, vegan, clean ingredients. Working with a Board-certified Veterinary Dermatologist and a personal care chemist they created products that married the needs of busy pet parents with clean beauty standards.  As they geared up for launch the COVID pandemic hit, undermining their original plans. Using problem solving experience from their method days, Michelle and Sally were able to find a facility to produce their products in small runs, ultimately launching Rowan’s first 5 products in December of 2020. Fast forward to today and Rowan is cleaning up the pet care industry with human-grade products that leave fur shiny, skin healthy, and everyone smelling like coconuts.
